HOW TO CREATE TRANSPARENT TEXT IN PSE9

by TOM
(QUEENSLAND)

Question: I am trying to make transparent text to add to my movie. I have Adobe PSE9 and need help, please.

Answer: Thank you for your question.

You can create transparent text in Adobe Photo Elements 9 by following these directions.

-Open the image you wish to use in Photoshop.
-Select the text tool and add your text to the image.
-Once the text is where you want it and you have added any beveling or other options to the text click the green checkmark.
-Change to the selection tool.
-Double click the text.
-Go to the right side of the screen under the layers tab and click the word "Normal".
-A drop down list will appear.
-Click the word "Overlay"

Your text is now transparent and you can see the image through it.

Creating transparent text to show over a video clip is not possible in Adobe Photoshop Elements 9. I suggest grabbing a clip from the video and utilizing the steps above to use transparent text in your video. You can also create transparent text in most video editors using the chroma key tool.

If anyone else has an alternative solution for Tom please add your comments.
