MPEG-2 TO AVI CONVERTER

by DIPANKAR CHAKRABORTY
(DIAMOND HARBOUR, SOUTH 24 PARGANAS, PIN-743331)

Question: I bought the Sony Handycam SX21E. The file is stored in the internal memory in the MPEG-2 format. I am using Adobe Premiere 6.5 and MPEG-2 is not supported. The file has audio and video when played from the camcorder. When I produced the video in the AVI format in Adobe Premiere the audio can not be heard. Please advice or provide me with any suggestions.

Answer: Thank you for your question.

Some camcorders raw files are not supported in Adobe Premiere Elements before version 9. To correct this iss you can add the Codec for most camcorders using the Camera Raw 6.5 update which is availabel from the Adobe website.

This should fix the issue. If not I suggest you purchase a video converter in order to convert the file to a usable format prior to uploading it to Adobe. We have reviews of several video converters that might help you choose one if needed.

If anyone else has an alternative solution for DIPANKAR please add your comments.

Conversion Software

I had issues with certain video files and ended up buying a converter program for about $15 downloadable and it will convert to any format you need. The program is HD Video Converter and it helped me so much with Avid Studio.
Hope this helps and keep up the great work.
