PINNACLE STUDIO ULTIMATE COLLECTION 12 (14 & 15) DVD MENU
Question: I am making a movie of a song festival with a few groups that participated. I want to create a DVD menu where the viewer can select a "play all" option or "play specific choir" option.
Seeing that there are many hymns, I added many chapter markers in order for the viewer to skip from hymn to hymn. Now my menu adds additional sub-menus and it looks very sloppy.
I want 1 main menu with the different choirs (bringing me back to the main menu afterwards)and a play all function. Hence not all the chapters must point to menus.
Answer: Thank you for your question.
Studio 12 is an older version of Studio and I am not very familiar with it but I can provide you with the information you need if you are using Pinnacle 14 or 15. I hope this helps.
You want to do a lot with the menu you are creating for your disc. I will discuss each part separately and in the specific order that you should follow.
Bring your media into the timeline and edit it how you prefer. Open the DVD menus and drop a sub-menu onto the timeline. When the instruction box opens allow it to do auto scene selection and automatically return to the main menu after each chapter. Check the chapter buttons on the timeline and drag them to the beginning of each groups performance. Delete any unnecessary chapter buttons. This will create chapters that viewers can choose to see a specific group and the DVD will return to the main menu of the disc after the groups performance. Make the necessary adjustments / edits to the DVD thumbnails (place whatever thumbnail images you want on each thumbnail, change the font, etc.).
Now you need to go back to the DVD menus and place a main menu at the beginning of the timeline. Click on the word "Play" and drag it to where you want the DVD to start playing if someone chooses to play the entire movie. Do not choose "Return to Main Menu" at this point because you do not want the DVD to return to the main menu until the end of the DVD.
Click on the create button option. Choose whatever button (Pinnacle buttons, a video or an image) you wish to use and make it a "Normal button". Drag the button to a specific place in the timeline where a song starts. When the button is pressed on the main menu it will go directly to that song on the DVD. You will need to do this several times to create a button for each song. Make sure you use text to place the name of the song next to the button or over the video or image. Add text to the area above or next to the buttons call "Song Selection" or something to that effect.
You now have all of the features you were looking for on your DVD.
